The Waterford Glass House was founded in 1783, in the port of Waterford, Ireland, by brothers George and William Penrose.
The fine quality glassware produced by Waterford Crystal saw the company achieve universal acclaim, but unfortunately by the mid 1800 the dire financial climate forced the company to close down. It would be a hundred years later that a group of businessmen, seeing the financial posssibilities, relaunched the Waterford Crystal company.
