Dartington Crystal, formerly known as Dartington Glass, was established in 1967, in Torrington, Devon. Originally as a manufacturer of quality glassware, the company has since developed a varied range of Crystal glassware which showcases its skills of design and glassmaking.

In the the early years of Dartington Crystal, the craftsmen employed in the production of glassware had all been recruited from the Scandinavian region of northern Europe, then over the following years, the Scandinavian skill of glass blowing was taught to English craftsmen.

Glassware was produced working originally to Scandinavian designs but later British designers were employed and have since been the key strength over the years, which in turn has lead to the development of Dartington Crystal becoming one of the leading names in English Crystal manufacture.

Dartington Crystal have played a key role in helping to assist the economic regeneration of rural Devon, and are the major employer in Torrington, some Dartington Crystal is still produced in Torrington which has lead to them being the only factory that is producing hand-made crystal tableware left in the UK.
